Deep learning is a collection of computational models that allow learning at multiple levels of abstraction. Many fields are currently going through a revolution with the introduction of convolutional and other deep neural networks. These techniques were initially applied in Computer Vision and Image Analysis, and have since spread to related fields such as speech analysis and processing, as well as data mining in general. Deep learning has brought incremental changes in terms of improved precision, but it also allows more generalized formulations to problems that previously required dedicated algorithms.

This symposium aims to survey the field of Deep Learning for Computer Vision and Image Analysis and increase awareness of state-of-the-art methods. We also aim at bringing together researchers from related fields where deep learning can be useful.
